# Architecture Portfolio Presentation: How to Present Your Work in an Interview The interview is where the portfolio stops being a document and becomes a conversation. How you present the work matters as much as the work itself. ## Prepare two or three projects in depth Choose the projects you can talk about for ten minutes each. For every one, know: - the brief and constraints - your role (especially in group work) - the key design decisions and why you made them - the iterations — what you tried and abandoned - what you would do differently Reviewers would rather hear one project deeply than five projects superficially. ## Structure your walkthrough A strong presentation follows the project's own story: 1. **The brief** — what was asked, what the site or context demanded. 2. **The idea** — the concept in one or two sentences. 3. **The process** — how the idea developed, with diagrams and sketches. 4. **The resolution** — plans, sections, renders; how the idea became a design. 5. **The reflection** — what you learned and what you'd change. ## How much to say Less is usually more. Point, state the key idea, and let the drawing do the work. Silence while the reviewer looks is fine. The most common mistake is narrating every image in detail. ## Handle questions honestly - If you don't know, say so, then explain what you would do to find out. - Don't claim work you didn't do.
